A few posts ago, I mentioned that I have two side projects running. One is my out of the Darkness project and the other is my ceramic jewelry project (or as I affectionately call it, my jooree project).

When I studied art, I became immersed in three areas: painting, printmaking & ceramics. Due to my circumstances, I decided to focus on painting. It was a challenge to keep up with the printmaking and ceramics, because everything I needed was so far away. I spent August traveling between Phoenix, Newark and New York. It was awesome to say the least.

I get most of my inspiration for my art from nature. The colours and textures are a driving force behind my approach. I was so drawn to the landscape and beauty of Arizona. I love the dry heat, the saguaro cacti.... the list goes on. The icing on the cake for me though was visiting the grand canyon. You can't out-artist that Artist, for sure! The colours, texture and environment made me feel alive. It's was a very spiritual experience for me. It's definitely bucket list worthy.

I've been working on two projects side by side, my new jewellery (I'll post separately on this one) and also my Out of the Darkness series.

Those who are familiar with my art know that I love to paint big pieces. I find it quite rewarding. However, recently I've embarked on a minis project and I love it! It's like turning a shrink ray on my pieces.
