The universe is fascinating. I know I'm in good company with my obsession. I have been dreaming about nebulae like the Pillars of creation since I was a teenager. Recently I discovered that Saturn has about 82 known moons and they are so diverse in their beauty. That got my creative juices flowing. With this collection of porcelain earrings I'm able to marry my love of outer space, colour and texture. The key to getting these effects was to use darker variations of ceramic glazes as my base and layering a variety of colours over that to get interest effects that mimic the surfaces of heavenly bodies. (think of the the of the eye of Saturn's swirling awesomeness). I used a variety of blues with this collection to achieve an enigmatic otherworldliness. Because I'm largely a one girl team, I have to do my own art direction. I really didn't want the generic pic on a white background with these. I felt it wouldn't do them justice. I wanted them to look like they were floating in outer space, but for the life of me couldn't figure out how to suspend them. Then with a some searching on Pinterest and a little ingenuity I thought of using sequins on some black paper and suspending the pieces on glass over that backdrop. Voila! It gives the effect that I wanted, with minimal setup. Less is really more. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this collection. Feel free to comment below.
Also, you can check out the whole collection here. If you're interested in owning a pair of these feel free to check out my online shop to snag one. Till later, Es xoxo
