Hi guys! So it's been a while since I've posted anything via my blog. In addition to being marginally wotless, I sometimes need to get inspired to write things. But then I realised that I have so much to write about recently! I've been working on two projects side by side, my new jewellery (I'll post separately on this one) and also my Out of the Darkness series. When learning to paint, I was taught that a white canvas was one of the best way to showcase the vividness and luminosity of colour, because white reflects light. Through experimentation, I saw that this was true. Colour looks beautiful and brighter when placed directly on a white canvas. So for many years, this was my main method of approach. That all changed though when I wandered into an art store last year and saw black canvas. My interest was piqued and I bought a few. Voila! The rest is history. Working on a black canvas makes you think. The way I build up form is different. The shadows are already there in the form of the black, so my focus is highlight and midtones. It's been a beautiful project in experimentation. Check out more pics under Work> Oil paintings and let me know what you think.
How have you guys been experimenting?
